The Million Dollar Homepage

In 2005, Alex Tew changed his life. As a 21 year old college student, Tew created the website www.milliondollarhomepage.com. The idea was simple. The homepage contained 1 million pixels and he would sell each pixel for $1. When a company would buy the pixel space, a logo and link to their website would be provided on the homepage. Tew used sites like ebay to market his site and ended up making a whopping $1,037,100 from his simple idea. Since then, others have followed in Tew's path by marketing their very own pixel advertising sites.

    It's funny because once this became a hit there were a million knock off sites. "I'll just copy this unique site and maybe I too will make a million dollars". People are lazy :P
